Extrication 40 Broad Brook Rd, August 6, 2001

Haz Mat Fermi High May 8, 2000


On Monday May 8, 2000 approximately 4 ounces of metallic mercury was found in a second floor hallway at Fermi High School. Because officials weren't sure how long it had been there and how many people had walked through it they decided to decon everyone who was in the school. Nearly 1,300 students and staff were held for an extra four hours so they could go throguh a show wash station. School was cancelled for the follwoing day so the building could be deconned.

Motorcycle vs Car, Hazard Ave, March 2000


A motorcyclist traveling east on Hazard Ave was hit by a car when the drive pulled away from the curb and attempted a U-Turn on Hazard Ave. The biker was treated and released from Johnson Memorial Hospital.

Tree Down on Hazard Ave, April 8, 2000


On Satueday April 8th the fire department was called out to a public hazard when a very large tree fell across Hazard Ave at Longview St during a windstorm.

Extrication, 375 Elm St, January 1, 2000


This is a series of photo's from an extrication on New Years Night 2000. Two teen age girls slid on the black ice in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, hit a fire hydrant, became airborn, then hit a telephone pole, the SUV the landed on it's roof in the front yard of one of our firefighters. While both escaped with just bumps and scratches, it took nearly 30 minutes to extricate the passenger who was pinned between the top of her seat back and the roof which was crushed down.
